Tell Congress to Support Full SRF Funding Now, Trust Fund for the Long-Term |
| Reference: |
AA 12-06 |
As the House and Senate begin the appropriations process and prepare their Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 budget requests for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), NACWA encourages its members to contact their Congressional representatives to urge them to support funding of the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) at the FY12 levels of $1,468,806,000 and $919,363,000, respectively.
Last week, a coalition of water and wastewater groups, including NACWA, the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA), the American Public Works Association (APWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF), the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA), sent a similar letter to Congress urging the House and Senate to reject the offered reductions to the CWSRF and DWSRF made by the Administration and maintain funding for these two key clean water programs at the FY12 levels. The House is set to release its budget proposal by April 1, while a Senate deadline has not yet been scheduled. NACWA also urges its members to encourage Congress that with infrastructure and compliance funding needs in the hundreds of billions of dollars, a dedicated, sustainable clean water trust fund continues to be the most viable approach over the long-term.
