Spartanburg Water has been selected to receive a combination of Silver, Gold and Platinum Peak Performance Awards. The Peak Performance Awards program presented by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) recognizes public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records in the 2009 calendar year.

Spartanburg Water received a total of nine Peak Performance Awards: one Platinum Award, which pays special tribute to agency facilities that have received Gold Awards for five or more consecutive years; five Gold Awards that honor treatment facilities that have achieved 100 percent compliance with their NPDES permit for an entire calendar year; and three Silver Awards that recognize facilities that have received no more than five NPDES permit violations for the calendar year.

The Spartanburg Water facilities receiving the awards were: Platinum- Community of Fingerville WWTP (eight consecutive years); Gold- Clifton Converse, Cowpens, Fairforest, Lower North Tyger and South Tyger WWTP’s; and Silver- Idlewood, Pacolet Mills, and Page Creek WWTP’s.
