County Water Department Lauded for Awards

DAYTON — Montgomery County Water Services was recognized for its receipt of three national awards at the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

The organization was one of 150 selected from approximately 300,000 to receive the Special Achievement in GIS Award, presented by Esri International, for innovative use of Esri’s geographic information system (GIS) technology.

Two of the county’s water services facilities received Peak Performance Awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).

The Eastern Regional Water Reclamation Facility was awarded a Gold Award for having 100 percent compliance with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for calendar year 2009.

The Western Regional Water Reclamation Facility received a Silver Award for having received no more than five permit violations in 2009.

Montgomery County Water Services treats about 28 million gallons of wastewater per day between its two reclamation facilities.
