Five Honolulu wastewater treatment plants received awards for outstanding compliance records last year by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.

The Waianae Wastewater Treatment Plant received a Platinum 8 Award for eight straight years with 100 percent compliance, according to a statement by the Honolulu mayor’s office this week.

The Wahiawa, Kailua Regional and Honouliuli plants earned gold awards, and Sand Island achieved silver status.

The awards were announced at the National Association of Clean Water Agencies summer conference in San Francisco this month.
