Subject: NACWA TALKING POINTS ON SANITARY SEWER ISSUES NOW AVAILABLE
Reference: AA 10-16

NACWA has composed a set of talking points icon-pdf for its members’ use at the upcoming U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) listening sessions on several sanitary sewer collection system issues, including sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), system operation and maintenance, and peak excess flow “blending”.  Members are encouraged to incorporate the talking points into any remarks they intend to provide at the sessions.  A member of NACWA’s staff will be attending each listening session and NACWA will provide its perspective at the July 13 session in Washington, D.C.  The Association encourages its members to actively participate in the sessions and to register as an attendee or speaker as quickly as possible to ensure you have a spot.  Session dates are as follows:

  • June 24, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at EPA Region 10 Office, 1200 Sixth Avenue, Seattle, Wash.
  • June 28, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at EPA Region 4 Office, 61 Forsyth Street, SW, Atlanta, Ga.
  • June 30, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at EPA Region 7 Office, 901 N. 5th Street, Kansas City, Kansas
  • July 13, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at EPA Headquarters, Ariel Rios Building, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, Washington, D.C.
  • July 14, 12:00 to 4:00 pm (Eastern) through a Virtual Listening Session via webcast

EPA has posted registration information for the EPA sanitary sewer issue listening sessions on its website.  Additional information on EPA’s information collection effort on SSOs and blending is available on NACWA’s website as a prior Advocacy Alert.  If you plan to attend, or participate in, any of the five listening sessions, please contact Chris Hornback, NACWA’s Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, at 202.833.9106 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
