Wastewater Department Receives Platinum Award for Excellence from National Association

CORPUS CHRISTI - The City of Corpus Christi Wastewater Department is pleased to announce that it has received a Platinum Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) for outstanding achievement at the City's Whitecap Wastewater Treatment Plant. The prestigious Platinum Award recognizes the Whitecap Plant for attaining 100-percent compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits for 13 consecutive years.

The Peak Performance Awards help recognize wastewater utilities that have successfully implemented initiatives that address the wide range of challenges facing those in the nation's clean water industry. The City of Corpus Christi will also be recognized for its achievement on July 20, 2010 during the NACWA 40th annual meeting in San Francisco, California.

The NACWA was founded in 1970 and is based in Washington, D.C. It represents more than 300 public agencies and organizations affiliated with the wastewater industry in the United States.
