Subject: WRDA 2016 on Senate Floor with Key Clean Water Priorities-- Contact Your Senator TODAY to Urge YES Vote
Reference: AA 16-10

NACWA Members are asked to contact your Senators TODAY to urge a YES vote on S. 2848, Water Resources Development Act of 2016, a bipartisan reauthorization package for Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) projects which also contains significant new investment in clean water infrastructure, common sense reforms to the Clean Water Act (CWA) that address affordability challenges, and watershed-based restoration investments that tackle non-point source pollution.

NACWA members have worked tirelessly over several years to realize many of the policy reforms and investment initiatives contained in this year’s WRDA package. Should the package advance through the Senate, it will represent the most significant legislative progress to date on reforms to the CWA, advancing critical clean water investments, and meeting a number of critical objectives in NACWA’s current Strategic Plan. Our hard work together has brought us this far – let’s get this important bill one step closer to the finish line!

The Senate is currently debating WRDA so NOW is the time to weigh in with your Senator to push for enactment of this important legislation. To contact your Senator, go to www.senate.gov or call 202-224-3121 and ask to speak with your Senator.

Should the Senate pass WRDA this week, attention will shift to the House of Representatives for action of H.R. 5303, the proposed WRDA package reported by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in May by voice vote. If action by both chambers occurs during the September work period, a potential conference committee could work over the October and November election recess on a WRDA conference report for enactment by the full Congress in a December Lame Duck session.

Contact your Senator today to keep the momentum going on WRDA!
