NACWA Urges Members to Contact Senators in Support of SRF Funding Bill

The National Office is pleased to provide you with this Legislative Alert, which calls on NACWA members to contact their Senators as soon as possible and ask them to support introduction and passage in the Senate of companion legislation to the Water Quality Financing Act of 2007 (H.R. 720).

Introduced by Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.), H.R. 720 would reauthorize the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) at $14 billion over four years and includes provisions to study mechanisms and resources available to establish a clean water trust fund.   The House of Representatives approved the bill March 9 in a bipartisan vote of 303-108 (see the April Legislative Update).

NACWA strongly supports H.R. 720 and asks that members contact their Senators asking them to support introduction and passage of companion legislation in the Senate.  To assist in this effort, NACWA has drafted a letter and attached it to this Legislative Alert.  Members can also access, personalize, and email this letter to your Senator at the click of a button through NACWA’s “Write Congress Now” feature by clicking the icon on the Association’s homepage.  Many members of Congress will return home to their districts for the Christmas recess next week, making it an ideal time to contact them.  Please don’t hesitate to add any local information on funding needs that would help garner the support of your Senator.
