2014 Summer Conference - Tours

We are pleased to offer three different tours from local utilities on a variety of subjects.  All tours are complimentary, but registration is required.  Register for the tours when you register for the conference (online registration coming soon).

Join Clean Water Services for a tour of one of the nation’s leading nutrient recovery facilities at the Rock Creek Clean Water Works in Hillsboro followed by a visit to the Fernhill Natural Treatment System in Forest Grove.  Attendees will be picked up at The Nines at 12:30 and returned to the hotel by 6:30.  Boxed lunch and post tour networking refreshments at the McMenamins Grand Lodge included.

Issued in 2004, Clean Water Services Integrated Watershed-based Permit launched one of the nation’s first urban/agricultural temperature trading programs.  Learn how existing local, regional and federal resources have been weaved together to meet water quality obligations at a substantially lower cost than concrete-and-steel solutions, while providing greater overall environmental benefits.  Attendees will be picked up at The Nines at 12:30 and returned to the hotel by 6:30.  Boxed lunch and post tour networking refreshments at the McMenamins Grand Lodge included.

 

1:00 – 3:00      Portland Bureau of Environmental Services Green Infrastructure Walking Tour
Following lunch on your own, join us for a walking tour of green infrastructure installations in downtown Portland.  Five years ago, the City began the Grey to Green initiative to boost green infrastructure in Portland and implement the Portland Watershed Management Plan, protect existing sewer and stormwater infrastructure.  The program includes: land acquisition, green streets, ecoroofs, street and yard trees, replacing culvers, revegetation and invasive weed control.
