Ask your Senators to Sign The Dear Colleague Letter and Support Strong SRF Funding!

Reference: AA 14-07

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Mike Crapo (R-ID) are currently circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter to Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, urging them to include level funding for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) in the Senate’s FY 2015 Interior and Environment spending bill.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s FY 2015 budget request included $1.018 billion for the CWSRF and $757 million for the DWSRF, cutting the CWSRF from last year’s enacted level by $431 million and the DWSRF by $150 million. Considering the importance of water and wastewater infrastructure to the well-being of the American people and the environment as well as to the economy and jobs, it is critical that the federal government remain a reliable, long-term partner in meeting the nation's clean water and safe drinking water needs.

Urge Your Senators to Sign On Today!

Please urge your Senators to join Senators Cardin and Crapo and support significant funding for the SRF programs, consistent with the FY 2014 enacted levels. The deadline for signatures is Monday, April 7. For information on how to contact your Senators, please refer to NACWA’s Congressional Toolbox.
