The Senate passed the five-year Agricultural Act of 2014, referred to as the Farm Bill, on Tuesday by a vote of 68-32. NACWA is very pleased that the final bipartisan package maintained all the provisions that the Association, along with the Healthy Waters Coalition, advocated for with respect to water quality and nutrients. The President is expected to sign the bill into law sometime tomorrow.

The final legislation included stronger language prioritizing nutrient management activities for funding within the newly created Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).

NACWA has developed a two-page write up   providing an overview of the RCPP and its purpose for our members. NACWA staff will available to help any members interested in taking advantage of the RCPP and partnering with nearby farmers to achieve water quality benefits through effective nutrient management. More information on how to take advantage of this new program will be available soon.
