NACWA is now accepting applications for the Excellence in Management Recognition Program (EIM).  This Recognition Program was launched in 2003 to recognize the significant achievements of Member Agencies in the utility management arena. This Program honors member agencies that have implemented and sustained, successful programs that address the range of management challenges faced by public clean water utilities in today’s competitive environment.

NACWA’s EIM Program was enhanced in 2012 with the addition of Resource Efficiency & Protection Activities to the Ten Attributes of Effectively Managed Water Sector Utilities and the incorporation of Platinum, Gold, and Silver recognition for both large and small utilities.  The Excellence in Management application icon-pdf provides all the information that you will need to apply. Applications must be forwarded electronically to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by April 12, 2013.

Please note that sample applications have been provided on the NACWA website for reference.

Who May Apply for Recognition?

Any Public Member Agency wastewater utility in good standing with NACWA may apply for recognition.  Organizations have separate requirements based on size (see EIM application for requirements)

•    Large wastewater utilities – defined for this purpose as those with a total treatment capacity of 20 million gallons per day (MGD) or more

•    Small wastewater utilities – defined for this purpose as those with a total treatment capacity of less than 20 million gallons per day (MGD)

How Will Honorees Be Selected for Recognition?

Each EIM application will be reviewed by members of NACWA’s Awards Committee.  The EIM Recognition Program is non-competitive.  Each nomination will be evaluated individually and all worthy nominations will receive recognition.  Applications that do not meet the minimum qualifications for the selected recognition category will be considered for other categories, if applicable.

Get Recognized!

EIM honorees will be recognized during NACWA’s 2013 Summer Conference, Managing & Financing the Resilient Clean Water Utility, July 14-17, 2013, at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, OH.
