Protecting our shared environment and the planet is of fundamental importance to the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) and its members. To support this common goal, the Association and the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front Hotel are working together to make sure that the 2012 National Pretreatment and Pollution Prevention Workshop is an environmentally friendly experience by:

Meeting Materials

  • NACWA has significantly reduced printed materials for conferences, and print only what is necessary to the success of the conference.
  • Materials that are printed for our meetings are printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper that is made with a minimum of 10 % post consumer waste, and printed with soy based inks.
  • NACWA lanyards are made from 100% post consumer plastic, mostly plastic bottles.

Recycling of Materials

  • Recycling bins will be provided in meeting rooms and at breaks.
  • Following the conclusion of the conference, be sure to stop by NACWA’s registration desk to drop off your badge and lanyard – NACWA strives to recycle as many meeting materials as possible.

Other NACWA Meeting Policies

  • NACWA only offers tap water at our conferences, so that we can all enjoy the product of our member’s labors and reduce waste.

Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front Environmental Policies

  • With the help of Dekra Certified, Inc., all Hilton Worldwide properties are ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.
  • Hilton Worldwide is the first major multi-brand company to implement the LightStay program, which is developed to calculate and analyze sustainability performance.  The program measures multiple utility and operational metrics, including energy, water, carbon, housekeeping, paper product usage, waste, chemical storage, air quality and transportation.   Omni Los Angeles Hotel offers a “farm to table” approach, purchasing local, organic, Fair Trade and sustainable food products whenever possible and reducing their carbon footprint.
  • The Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front Hotel is a Florida Green Lodging One Palm Level property.
  • The Hotel recycles paper, aluminum, cans, corrugated cardboard and printer cartridges as well as practices bulk purchasing to reduce waste.
  • In terms of Clean Air Practices, the hotel uses environmentally preferable cleaners as well as High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters.
  • Recycling bins for plastic bottles and aluminum cans are available in all meeting rooms; the Hotel recycles office paper, steel cans, toners, plastic, aluminum, light bulbs and cardboard and practices paperless event proposals and billing.
