Mark Sanchez is Executive Director of the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority), a position he has held since 2004.  The Water Authority is recognized as a leader in the area of conservation and sustainable delivery of water, reuse, and wastewater services.  The Water Authority has 600 employees, 200,000 customers, operating budget of $182 million, debt of $690 million and over 5 billion in assets.  It is an AA+ rated utility and has been consistently recognized by Government Finance Officers Association for outstanding budget, capital plan and performance measures.  Mr. Sanchez has a MBA and a MPA.  He is a graduate of the Harvard JFK School of Government Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.  Prior to the Water Authority, he served as the Director of the Albuquerque City Council/Chief Policy Officer for a decade.  Mr. Sanchez has over 25 years experience at the executive level in government, private sector and non-profit sector in the areas of Business and Government Policy, Housing and Community Development, Health, Human and Social Services, Job Training, Economic Development and Utility Management.  Mr. Sanchez is currently a board member of the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, Multi-State Salinity Coalition, and the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.
