WASHINGTON D.C. – The National Association of Clean Water Agencies, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, National Association of Counties, National League of Cities, Association of Clean Water Administrators, Association of State Drinking Water Administrators, Council of Infrastructure Financing Authorities, Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, American Public Works Association, American Water Works Association, and Water Environment Federation sent a letter The letter states, “While we recognize that the Budget Committee's allocation required that the Interior/EPA Subcommittee make difficult choices, we cannot allow the job of maintaining our critical water and wastewater infrastructure to become a budget casualty.” Diminishing the Clean Water SRF program to a mere $250 million would severely undermine the program’s ability to be of any significant help to communities struggling to provide clean water to their residents. NACWA is disheartened to see these cuts and will continue to work with this coalition to ensure they are not enacted. ### |
to Members of Congress today requesting that Congress restore the drastic cuts made to the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs in the House-proposed FY 2014 Interior, Environment and Related Agencies appropriations bill to at least the funding levels named in the FY2013 omnibus spending bill of $1.452 billion and $909 million, respectively.
