NACWA will convene a Nutrient Summit on September 16-17, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois.  The Summit will serve as an important step toward identifying new concepts and approaches that may help to improve the management of nutrient pollution.  The day and a half-long meeting will feature presentations from key stakeholder groups, including U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state regulatory officials, agriculture and environmental NGOs.  Additional presentations will focus on effective state and regional approaches to nutrient management that may serve as national models.  A facilitated discussion will follow the presentations – all with the goal of reaching consensus among the clean water community on a reasonable path forward.

The perspectives of NACWA Member Agencies are an essential component of this ‘roll up your sleeves’ dialogue.  For this reason, representatives from public Member Agencies are invited to attend on a space available basis.  The Summit is scheduled to start at 8:00 am on Thursday, September 16 and conclude by 12:00 noon on Friday, September 17.  While there is no registration fee for the Summit, travel and hotel costs must be borne by the registrant.  To register please visit http://www.nacwa.org/10nutrients and complete the form provided no later than Friday, August 20.  The Association will confirm your participation, and provide information regarding hotel accommodations, no later than August 25.  NACWA will accept registrations from Affiliate Members; however, Affiliate reservations will be confirmed only if available space remains.
