Subject: REGISTER FOR A FREE 12-MONTH SUBSCRIPTION TO WaterISAC Pro FOR WASTEWATER UTILITIES
Reference: AA 10-20

In response to a request from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), NACWA is pleased to extend an invitation to members to take advantage of an offer for a free 12-month subscription to WaterISAC Pro.  The Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (WaterISAC) was authorized by Congress in 2002 and is managed by the water sector.  Its mission is to keep drinking water and wastewater utility managers informed about potential risks to the nation's water infrastructure from contamination, terrorism, cyber threats, and other hazards.  WaterISAC Pro is the water and wastewater sector's official source for infrastructure security and emergency management information.  It is an interactive clearinghouse for knowledge and best practices, with exclusive content not found through other services.  WaterISAC Pro offers:

  • Hundreds of secure documents on best practices and threats to utilities and public health
  • Vulnerability assessment tools
  • Water security and all-hazards emergency preparedness materials
  • Biological and chemical agent databases
  • Analysis from a 24/7 on-call intelligence analyst

In addition, WaterISAC Pro subscribers are eligible to take part in timely, pertinent webinars.  Upcoming sessions will cover contingency planning and business continuity.  Previous webinars have covered the current threat environment facing water systems, presented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); lessons learned from natural disasters; insider threats; and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Given the importance of utility security and public health, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is covering the cost of new subscriptions.  More than 2,400 utility personnel already subscribe, including many NACWA members.  Multiple utility personnel from all departments are encouraged to sign up. Subscribers may include staff in your executive office, security and emergency response teams, communications staff, I.T. managers, plant managers, lab personnel, the general counsel’s office and others.

Interested NACWA members may sign up for WaterISAC Pro at https://portal.waterisac.org/clearspace_community/prosubscription/setup.jspa. Please also feel free to forward this link to appropriate personnel and ask them to sign up as well.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact AMWA’s Michael Arceneaux or Aaron Levy at WaterISAC at 202-331-0479 or visit http://waterisac.org.
