NACWA-Ducks Unlimited Partnership on Wetlands Takes Key Next Step

Last year, NACWA and Ducks Unlimited (DU) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that provided a foundation for collaboration between the two organizations to protect, restore, enhance, construct, and manage wetlands.  As stated in the MOU, activities carried out pursuant to it would “contribute significantly to improving our nation’s water quality through an innovative wastewater treatment technique, as well as to the protection, restoration and enhancement of wetland ecosystems for waterfowl, other wildlife and people.”

Since signing the MOU, NACWA has had several discussions with members interested in pursuing potential collaborative partnerships with DU on wetlands projects.  NACWA also discussed on several occasions with DU how best to proceed to ensure the MOU would serve as a framework for the implementation of joint wetlands projects.

NACWA is pleased to announce that DU, after following a necessary internal process, has provided NACWA members with the appropriate regional staff contacts (listed below) for Association members to reach out to and pursue joint wetlands projects.  DU and NACWA have also provided the Association with a Cooperative Wetland Project Information Worksheet — included with this Member Update.  The Worksheet is self-explanatory but should be filled out and shared with the appropriate regional DU staff contact as discussed below.
