Susan Bruninga, Director of Public Affairs, (202) 833-3280 NACWA Responds to Associated Press Articles on Pharmaceuticals in Drinking WaterThe recent series by the Associated Press on pharmaceuticals found in municipal drinking water demonstrates the need for a national strategy to manage the use and disposal of these compounds, according to the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), an organization representing nearly 300 municipal wastewater treatment plants. NACWA members are public servants who pride themselves in putting concern for the environment and public health first by working 24-hours a day, seven days a week to ensure clean and safe water.
NACWA represents the interests of more than 300 public agencies and organizations that have made the pursuit of scientifically based, technically sound and cost effective laws and regulations their objective. NACWA members serve the majority of the sewered population in the United States and collectively treat and reclaim more than 18 billion gallons of wastewater daily. 1816 Jefferson Place, Washington, DC 20036-2505 • 202.833.2672 • 202.833.4657 FAX • http://www.nacwa.org/
