DC Water Testifies on Behalf of NACWA at House Hearing on EPA's Integrated Planning Framework

Washington, D.C. – George Hawkins, General Manager of DC Water, testified today on behalf of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) at a House Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee hearing regarding EPA’s final integrated planning framework.  In NACWA’s testimony, Hawkins commended EPA for producing a framework that provides a strong foundation for new and continued discussions between clean water utilities and the government on how best to sequence their clean water investments.  Yet, Hawkins warned that the Framework’s success will depend on the extent to which it can provide the financial and regulatory relief DC Water and many others in the clean water community are seeking.

George Hawkins is Chair of the NACWA’s Money Matters Task Force, responsible for providing strategic guidance on new approaches to Clean Water Act (CWA) affordability such as integrated planning.  His testimony in full can be found on NACWA’s website icon-pdf.
