Samuel T. McGhee

Sam McGhee was appointed the Executive Director of the Joint Meeting of Essex and Union Counties (JMEUC) in April 2004.  JMEUC is a wastewater facility located in Elizabeth, NJ that services 15 municipalities in those two counties.  The Joint Meeting was established in 1898 and has a service area of 64 sq. miles and a tributary population of 600,000.

Mr. McGhee began his professional career as a high school history teacher and served as Director of Admissions and Dean for 32 years at New Jersey City University.  He was first elected to the Hillside governing body in 1986 and was re-elected three times and selected as mayor for three terms.

He currently serves on the Board of the Union County Improvement Authority and Hillside’s Library Board, UEZ Board and Swimming Pool Commission.  He also is a member of the Board of Trustees-WBGO-Public Radio and has served as its chairman for five years.

Mr. McGhee earned his BA in Social Science from Jersey City State College (now New Jersey City University) and received his MA in Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University.
