2011 National Pretreatment &
Pollution Prevention Workshop

May 18-20, 2011
St. Louis Union Station Marriott, St. Louis, MO

Join your clean water colleagues for the only conference designed especially for pretreatment professionals! The National Association of Clean Water Agencies' (NACWA) National Pretreatment & Pollution Prevention Workshop, will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, May 18 - 20 at the St. Louis Union Station Marriott.

Updates on Issues and New Topics to be Discussed

This year’s Workshop will focus on topics that promise to be important for pretreatment programs in the future, as well as issues that are currently affecting these programs. Presentation topics include the effluent guidelines rule for dental amalgam separators; disposal of natural gas fracking wastewater; the potential of chemicals such as triclosan and nanosilver to impact the wastewater treatment process and the environment; proper treatment of funeral home and cremation wastes; disposal of unused pharmaceuticals; and the beneficial use of food wastes.  Building on past programs, we will once again have breakout sessions on various topics to allow participants to network with their colleagues from utilities nationwide.  In addition, staff from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will update participants on the current status of effluent guidelines development, pretreatment performance measures, and other programs. Also, regional EPA staff will also be on hand to engage in the popular Regional Roundtable discussion session.
